Not completely Halloweeny, but I can’t upload DJ Cutman’s Dr. Wily’s Dirty Dubstep Halloween Bootleg because the file’s too big. So this’ll have to do.

Mummy punkins! Easy, quick … boo! I mean: Make!!

Today was a “whatever” day for me.

After working 4 p.m. to midnight Monday through Friday, I don’t feel like doing much on the weekends … yet. In time, that will change. I just need to build up the energy for it. So for now, my weekends are my days of rest. And today, my eating habits were a bit off. Today was my mom’s birthday, so my boyfriend and I took her out to brunch. I tried to watch what I ate, but I didn’t go way overboard like I normally would have — and I ate more fruit, which I’ve never done before at breakfast. But I have to WI Friday — a day early — this week, so I figured what the heck, I’ll use up all (or most of) my WP allowance over the weekend.

I did pretty much that. I still have 18 left, and I plan to use those at the beginning of this week, then gym it for 30-45 minutes each night after work each night.

Let’s hope that goes as planned.

(Note: Sorry for the crazy post that showed up previously! I have to figure out a better way to post this info.)

Doing it for real this time.

No more excuses. No more procrastination.

I’ve been gone way too long from here. It’s time to get back in the game.

Updating this blog daily will help keep me accountable in addition to my weekly WW meetings, which I just started going to again three weeks ago. I need all the support and encouragement I can get, fellow Tumblr’ers, so please feel free to suggest other weight-loss blogs for me to follow, or even mention my blog to your followers, etc. It would be cool and so very appreciated/inspiring to have a decent following. My thanks in advance.

All that being said, here’s a glimpse of today’s PointsPlus intake. Today starts a new week for me, and I was down 1.4 this morning at my WI, so I decided to treat myself at dinner. But, I actually was better than I would have been pre-WW. Check it out.

I have no words for this, literally speechless…

Can’t get my screen shot to work …

So, I was going to capture a screen shot of my points tracker of what I ate today, but apparently my PC doesn’t like me. My Mac in my office does, because it worked on there. Guess I’ll have to upload them from work from now on.

Anyway, I did well until after my staff meeting at work when someone mentioned the local ice-cream joint, and it was stuck in my head. Only went five points over, which isn’t terribly bad:

Morning:

  • Cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese - 10 (This is a guestimation.)
  • Iced vanilla coffee, 16 ounces - 2

Afternoon:

  • Kellogg’s Fiber Plus Antioxidants chocolately peanut butter bar - 2
  • Yoplait Light Thick & Creamy orange creme yogurt, 6 ounces - 2

Evening:

  • Subway 6” sweet onion chicken teriyaki - 7
  • Bowl of chili - 6

Anytime (where I broke down):

  • Meadow’s apple dumpling with vanilla custard - 10 (Again, this is an estimation since I didn’t get the nutritional info.)

Total points used: 39
Weekly points allowance remaining: 30

I’m making myself do way better tomorrow - more fruits and veggies, healthy oils and activity. For a Monday, though, this wasn’t too bad.

    A little introduction to me.

I should have done this yesterday with my first post, but oh well. Here goes.

I’m Heather. I’m 25 years old (26 in a little over a week) and in my senior year of studying journalism at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. I’m the editor in chief of the university’s student-run newspaper, and while it is a stressful job, I do have fun doing it.

I plan to graduate in August (if all goes well), but this is my last actual semester at IUP. I will hopefully be completing an internship in Washington, D.C., over the summer in public relations. Washington is where I really want to end up working; I absolutely love it there (but I’ll also be scoping for jobs in Hawaii, muahaha).

I love writing, traveling, reading, swimming, music, movies, dogs, shopping, meeting new people, Renaissance fairs, amusement/theme parks, laser tag and martial arts. (I really want to join a kickboxing class.)

The picture below is of me and my favorite professor ever, taken Feb. 26.

It is absolutely unflattering, but hopefully as the weeks go by I’ll be posting better ones as I continue my progress. After all, that’s what this blog is about - keeping myself accountable. If I don’t do that, then what’s the point of having this blog? I might as well close up shop.

And since I’ll be holding myself accountable, I need to post my statistics to keep myself in check. (And to hopefully be an inspiration to others with my progress. This will be in a secondary blog, because I need to figure out BMI and all that stuff.)

That’s all I’ve got for now. I’m currently on the lookout for other weight-loss bloggers to follow for inspiration and suggestions, and I welcome anyone to follow me as I make this trek to shed the pounds. Together, we can all be an incredible support system. :)

    Welcome to my weight-loss journey.

So, I’ve finally gotten around to starting this blog. I trashed my original blog and started this one because it actually has a purpose.

    Welcome to my weight-loss journey.

To start, I’ve always been overweight; ever since I was a child I’ve been on the heavy side. I can only blame it on myself - not genetics or any of that crap. My mom, dad and brother are relatively thin, as are almost all of my other relatives. I was never really “educated” on portion control or healthier eating while growing up, although my mom constantly got on my case about what I chose to eat. Unfortunately, it’s taken me almost 26 years to really get my butt in gear and do something about it. I’ve lost weight a few times in my late teens/early 20s, but never knew the way to keeping it off, and so it crept right back on. This time, I’m going to work hard and do things right.

In September, I joined Weight Watchers, and it has been the best thing that has worked for me so far. From then until December, I lost 20 pounds. But I didn’t know how to deal with the holidays and my winter break from school, and gained some of it back. To most people, 20 pounds isn’t a big deal, but it actually was an accomplishment for me. I plan on losing what I put back on and a whole lot more. This blog is my way of holding myself accountable. Trust me, it’s not easy letting the whole world in on this, but it’s something I need to do.

This isn’t going to just be a daily logging of “Today I ate this and worked out this long.” While I will track what I eat and my exercise, I also plan to give my feedback on certain workouts from online sites, magazines, DVDs and Wii games to rate (in my opinion) how effective they are, as well as post any interesting articles regarding weight loss and fitness equipment/gadgets, and possibly feature other people who are working toward a weight-loss goal. In addition, I’ll post about new foods and recipes I try. In no way am I trying to be or sound like an expert on this subject - I most definitely am not. But it is worth it to educate myself, and hopefully others, on it. Also, I plan to post photos weekly to track my progress. (I may get into YouTube videos, but I don’t know how I feel about that yet.)

I know this is not going to be an easy thing to do, and it’s certainly not going to happen overnight. Obviously, having lost and gained several times in the past, I know it’s not. I’m going to have good days, and I’m going to have days where I’m going to want to give up. Hopefully, those who read this blog will provide support and encouragement to keep me going. But in the end, only I can make it happen.

I really look forward to gaining followers (pun intended) as I lose the weight. I need all the support I can get. Thanks for reading!
